from 'While Passing Through'/Summer
Leaving the ball park
crowd on sidewalk walks trance-like
focused on cell phones.
It is indeed sad and a great disadvantage of these gadgets that we miss out on the glimpses of nature which are awesomely enchanting and which greatly add to our enjoyment of life. Thanks.
The poet has drawn our attention to a situation that is funny as well as worrisome in the modern context. We can see such people in any township. Nicely depicted. Thank You, Glen.
rajnish, thank you for your affirmation and for taking the time to comment. to me (i don't own a cell phone, but my wife loves her i-phone) it was a truly strange sight. i am convinced we were created to be close to nature, that we need to take in nature's sights, hear crickets and birds, smell pine trees and flowers... but for so many in my orbit, electronics keep them from experiencing these things. -glen kappy

Oh yeah - sharing the score? Public transport, bus stops - it's pandemic and people don't know what to do with their hands or eyes if they don't have their phones. It would be interesting to see a study or film on the overall effect of cell phnes on our lives. It's the revolution of the 21st century.
pandemic is an excellent way to dub it... last night as we drove, two people crossed the street in front of us, heedless of traffic, one mesmerized by the cell phone held out in front of her. -glen
