Early Works - Silent City Poem by David Harris

Early Works - Silent City

The setting sun silhouettes
a pair of figures arm in arm
staring out at shimmering waves
from beach sandy bare
burdens of the real world
have disappeared behind
silence is golden
as is peace of mind.

Dark clouds like stretching fingers
move across the sky
lights of a million lives
switch on across the city
yawns from young sleepy heads
are caressed by a lullaby
the city is at peace now
silent in its sleep.
