Elli's Whisper (A Bird's Fairytale) Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Elli's Whisper (A Bird's Fairytale)

There upon the tree she sat and watched,
She watched the days go by as she sat there and sighed,
Will today be the day prince charming arrived,
She sat there in her nest,
Singing her song of joy,
Hoping her voice would lull him close to her heart,
That where ever he'd was that he'd hurry, come quick,
Each second grew near as she towered her tree,
Will today be the day prince charming arrived,
Nights were the longest in her cycle of wait,
She thought of a dream where she met him closer than air,
Her cheeks turned red as her feathers ruffled at the mere thought,
Night couldn't become day quick enough,
Impatient were the seconds she wanted then and now,
Her nest smelled of her essence,
Her eyes watched adamently,
Waiting,
As she was struck by cupid,
She sat up upon her tree,
The branches of her nest crept,
She spent around to find no one was there,
She grew heartbroken as her song of joy turned to one of sorrow,
Her eyes felt with water,
Suddenly she felt the wings of her prince charming,
He grabbed her from behind and just held her as no words were needed,
