Embolism (Acrostic) Poem by Kim Barney

I was born in a bank - - my mother went there and made a deposit

Embolism (Acrostic)

Early Sunday morning, my leg had pain
Mixed with numbness and was swollen and red.
"Better get to the emergency room, "
Our daughter, who's a registered nurse, said.
Later, it was determined there's a clot
In my upper left leg, a certain spot
So serious that as likely as not
My remaining life will be changed a lot.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written 26 March 2019

Embolism - - a pretty word for an ugly clot.

I have been placed on a blood thinner called Xarelto. I have been told that I can no longer take my arthritis medication that I have been taking for years.

Even worse, I can no longer eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. I LOVE grapefruit, especially RED grapefruit!

I might have to take this blood thinner for the rest of my life, or it could be that after a while I might be able to stop taking it. They took eight vials of blood from me at the emergency room to do a bunch of different tests.

Thanks, Wes. Yes, you have told me that several times. No need to be jealous, We all have different talents, and yours are amazing. Your cartoon OOGIE should be syndicated.

Here's hoping you recover soon. We need your sense of humor and more poems. By the way, this one is very well done. Ten syllables per line, and a perfect acrostic. Interesting rhyme pattern. ABCBDDDD
