more freedom in future choice
more financial independence security

time passes in first real job experiences
learning an apprenticeship for 4 years
six month salary increases small pay increases
choose printing an apprentice to journeyman

passed Trade Certificate a qualified tradesman
change career Ministry of Transport Marine Division
no more printing 4 years a mixed body of skills

mainly in workshop many outside sites labouring
sometimes working with engineers rare doing soundings
on a dredge tug in the harbour office on rare shifts

as a harbour master's assistant changes are learning nice
time is a river time goes years flow into life choices changes
later other jobs other countries more freedom of choice
past is littered with experiences future uncharted territories
