Empty Circle

Gayatri Phukon
(Translated from Assamese into English by: Shakil Ahmed.)

After becoming free from
All mundane engagements
A handful of soothing moonlight
Floating like an empty circle
Pushing me forward
To prepare for competition
I went on marching forward
Suffered from frustration
Underwent pangs of life
To get the coloured golden deer
After crossing thousand miles
I could feel - - -
Everything is meaningless
I became a happy man
For one day only
Tomorrow -I may wander about
Searching for a new dream
Again I will suffer
From a new pain
Again I will realise
The emptiness of life
In the process I will die
And one day
Tomb of my grave will
Break into pieces.

A very sad view of what life means to us and the bounties it offers to the mankind. But then it is not the same for one and all. Thanks for sharing this realistic poem.
