Gayatri Phukan Poems

On the full moon night
The moon puts on the red dress
The eunuch nights lie still like a log
The moon embraces a heartful of unbearable sorrow
...

A vermilion evening
I came back
from that river side..
When I came back,
...

The rains clean up the morning

Breaking the pleasant drowsiness
Sprinkle dream in the field
...

Am wandering carrying a Sun in my heart
Sometimes getting singed in sunshine
Some other times enjoying its warmth
Wandering around
...

As the molested Earth weeps
The Sun fumes in fury
The rain revolts
Which place is free of molestation
...

I longed to meet you
Had I met you
I'd perhaps taken your hands
In my ensconced hands

Sunshine is too proud

How can the hill become happy
Embracing the century-old ancient rock

NOCTURNAL POEM
How ominous the night is
One cannot sleep
As one shuts the eyes

Please do not leave this city
Without meeting me once
Who knows
Perhaps this would be our last meet

In the verandah where the sunshine do not run around in summer
It crawls and giggles during winter
I feel happy with the verandah.
The sunshine sprinkle dream on the face.

You'd arrive one day
In a dark night
I'd walk away
Hand in hand with you

The old folks
Sometimes
Puffs cigarettes
Sitting lazily on the porch

The evening turns young
Drawing a moon on the forehead
The locality moves into its prime of youth

The Paramour Moon And The Eunuch Nights

On the full moon night
The moon puts on the red dress
The eunuch nights lie still like a log
The moon embraces a heartful of unbearable sorrow
Wearing the red dress
The moon turns into a rock
No one
Just no one understandsl
The pain of the heart of the moon
The hunger of the heart of the moon
The selfish eunuch nights
If I could even offer a heartful of love
Just tell me
After how many eunuch nights
The moon turns paramour
It's because of paramour moon
That the pet birds turns wild
The sorrow of the night of the birds
With the long vermilion marks between their parted hair
Gets accumulated
Transformed into ice.
The wild birds loiter in stranger's courtyard
The nests break like that
The game of make and break continues thus.
