End Of Wars Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

End Of Wars

Put away drums of war, mourn the dead
Weep and grieve, as new dawn breaks
War vanquished, freedom redeemed
No more battles, bombing, destruction
Armies attacking, cities made rubble.
Mortuaries overflowing with civilian dead
Families, hearts broken never to heal.
Mark graves of the fallen, remember them
Rebuild broken towns and cities, heal the sick
Set free the oppressed from chains of tyranny
With compassion reach out hand of friendship.
Nations united, democracy embracing all
With no more wars to kill and destroy,
But lasting peace reigning world-wide.
