Enflamed Poem by Cherie Mort

Enflamed

Somewhere deep, a fire kindles
Stoked by passion, burned by flame
A secret chamber with no location
Known by no common name

This red, glowing coal
In essence a soul
Is warm, and yet terrifying

But if denied, these flames will die
Extinguished by cold undying

An ice palace grim
Melted by passion's whim
And stoked to a roaring flame

Where the fires will burn
Until once again turned
To the ashes of a once-whispered name

Many a flame,
And many a name,
And many a chill undying

Til ghost be given
Forgived or unshriven
And buried in ground goodbying
