I flutter my eyelashes softly against his cheek
Laughing, he pulls back and asks, 'What is that? '
'Butterfly kisses, ' I respond, smiling coyly
He laughs again and tilts his head up towards the sunlight,
Drinking in the light and beauty of everything around us
I sigh and rest my head on his chest, my arms entwined around him
I could stay like this forever
........................................
Months later, who knew that we'd end up fighting
Breaking glasses, breaking plates, breaking hearts
I know that we will probably move on soon
But we can never really forgive each other like we used to
When we'd sit and drink in the light from a meadow
And kiss each other like butterflies
The memories of lost love is here creatively composed!
I love the poem and I love the graphic. It would go well with my poem BUTTERFLY OF DEATH.
Romance, stress, breaking up, pain and sufferings that goes with it shattering lovely dreams of a love. beautifully presented in this poem. liked this poem very much. thank you. Tony
Lovely depiction of romance followed by distress and animosity in the bliss of love. Love is a spiritual experience that affects one profoundly. It's also whimsical and temperamental, appearing unannounced and may leave without warning if not carefully nurtured to maintain its bliss. A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with insight. Thanks for sharing Cherie. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
