Epigenesis And Healing. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Epigenesis And Healing.

Rating: 5.0

DNA strands in our
cells contain genes,
the hereditary units,
inherited from parents.
They regulate production
of specific proteins to
determine physical
and biological traits.

Their functions are fixed
as scientists believed
in the past.
That our life styles, choices,
environment alter functions
is accepted at present.

Toxic exposures,
whether people eat
healthy foods,
exercise sufficiently,
experienced trauma,
forgive some one
who has hurt or carry
a big grudge, influence
genes' production of
healthy or diseased proteins.
This new scientific discipline
to investigate how genes
are triggered on or off
is Epigenesis

We can't alter genes
we get, but control the
the proteins produced.
Studies from bees, rats
and humans have
proved.

All bees in a hive are
identical genetically.
But a particular bee
is chosen to be the queen,
fed with royal jelly.

She grows twenty percent
larger, also lives twenty
percent longer than her
fellow worker bees.
This happens though her
genes are not different
from her peers.

Genes, therefore, don't
dictate our fate,
rather environment,
life styles, intentions,
good social rapport
act in concert.
What we do
make us healthy or diseased,
exert ninty-eight percent effect.
