Everybody Needs A Fence To Lean On Poem by Lara W.A

Everybody Needs A Fence To Lean On

He told me
He'll name the stars after me
The one in the middle
Furthest apart
Shying away from everything else
He told me
I outshine the rest.

He knew
I like it better when it’s dark and black
I like it better when the sun don’t shine
I like it better when I can’t be seen
He said he knew all that
But he wants to be there anyway
He wants my night to be dark blue.

I told him
I’m okay with being alone at night
Being invisible doesn’t harm me
But being alone in a crowd –
It hurts so bad
He told me don’t fret
‘I’m your sunscreen.’
His phone is on vibrate for me.
