Except You Poem by Shamik Kumar Bose

Except You

Rating: 5.0

/* Pablo Neruda's 'The Song of Despair' is an inspiration */

In front of me the four walls closing the ocean
And the mortal waves tumble in foams

Between the sky and the ocean, this earth is hapless
A silent sigh hushes in a cold breath of death

Rhythms that ornament a song, now moan
My path languishes to trade on an inclined slope

Except you. This journey is a lament for destiny
A cry of a baby inside a mother's womb

Without you the grass refuses to listen
The dews frozen on a stoic stone

Beyond you the sky appears a sunken blue
Absorbed in pain with a face so common

Bereft you the moments travel inward
A river to get the lost joy inside sands

Leaving you inside a pallid moon
A brazen day is only left for me

Losing you inside the tumultuous waves
The lonely shore is cold with timid kisses.
