Executioner Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Executioner

People who choose evil.
To display their public disdain,
For others.
Only inflict,
The severity of their own pain.
Done without a coming,
Of relief or empathy from anyone.
And taunts to haunt.
For the rest of their miserable lives.

And,
That is why it pays to always...
Not to think of oneself,
As judge, jury and executioner.
Since no one knows,
Who it is that is reluctant...
To provide that service.
When and if,
That decision is made.
After patience and tolerance to have,
Has gone beyond...
Reasons to excuse,
Ongoing explanations to keep them.
