Eyes (About Kashmir) Poem by B U Afnan

Eyes (About Kashmir)

Rating: 5.0

Those eyes, that used to light up
on seeing me come home
those eyes, which just a week back
with EIDI in hand shone.

today, they are closed,
bruised and battered
eyes stitched shut, forever closed!

Lips that would always smile
and make my life worthwhile
today, they are in a grim line.

Oh, He used to cry for toys
today, he's begging me to let him die
But they tell me, he mustn't cry
oh crying will hurt his eyes

Tell me, Oh Nation proud of occupying
how do I stop him from crying?
Tell me, oh tormentor! ,
(this time)
how do I give him what he's asking for?

I wish 'I' were dead
I cant see him lying in this bed
Every scream brings a tear in my eye
yes, come see, once a proud man cry

Tell me, Oh proud NATION
How do I end his pain

its a sad poem that speaks eloquently and touchingly of this devastating reality there are no answers to this brutality of a crazed regime we heard of genocides, we heard of rapes used as a political tool..we heard of the holocaust and we heard of the rape of nanking... the systematic murder/displacement of indiginous populations this blinding of peaceful protesters is a new depth to which humanity has sunk...and this horrible regime has the dubious distinction to earn this infamy... they will not go unpunished for long.... this ultimate human tragedy has failed to gain the interst of world leaders and organisations that pride themselves on human rights.. shame and shame yet again! your effort is commnedable and moving... keep writing and best of luck sat

The sheer wickedness of despots and their crime against humanity is well highlighted in the poem. A tragic piece of poetry bristling with emotions. Thanks for sharing and do remain blessed. Please have a look at some of my poems.

what you've penned is so tragic and tormented, But what I am telling you, ponder it well... this is life and we are called Humans, the most brutal and stupid creatures, we will do such things again and again, thus time it has been doing by Indians, next time your neighbors will reply such acts.Politics and Religion in narrow sense cause all this barbarian acts. what i mean from long preface, change your thinking style(i know it's hard in present Kashmir) bcaz yiu will bring no good for yourself.Over 100,000 innocent ppl died during the last 30 years but do you see who cares? i am supporting your cause- Freedom- but the rest the world? turn your pen and thinking to some Sweet scenes and Develop good potic skill, i advise you two things: Read Read and write, hooe for your good safe living. xk

Thanks for inviting me to read this poem. This is shocking and extremely sad. How anyone could do this is unimaginable. You told the story well, as far as it went. Perhaps you should include a poet's not to explain the situation further.
