Fallen Angels Poem by Valerie Dohren

Fallen Angels

Fallen Angels

They lay, forlorn, on jaded ground
where once they soared above -
entangled in the rugg'ed earth
bereft of life and love.

The light so faded from their eyes
it filled me with despair
to find them lying in the shade
in need of love and care.

I tried to heal their broken wings
that they might fly again -
rise up from all the earthly dross
in freedom from their pain.

With honeyed breath and tender kiss
to bring them back to life -
I fixed their wings with golden glow
releasing them from strife.

Then saw them fly in fullest time
above in sapphire skies -
those fallen angels calling out
with haunting siren cries.
