Far Too Many (Sonnet Sequence) Poem by Gert Strydom

Far Too Many (Sonnet Sequence)

Far too many cries, voices, actions and lies
draw, force and oblige me to write something,
as in the last part of summer birds sing,
in dismal horror call outright to me,

while leaders act without any loyalty,
all the news constantly do bloodshed bring,
no nation to fight Russia does a thing
and the death of innocents I do see.

Heartless the regime against the West stand,
as Russian soldiers terrorize civilians,
do not have compassion or empathy:
in parliament resemble more a robber-band
of those that take by force of law, or villains,
that steals at every opportunity.
2
The opposition speaks against the bloodshed,
do greatly support the Ukraine at heart,
with China, Cuba and Russia the regime is abed.
In belief and ideology we are apart,

the country is dived among white and black
and apolitical I am forced to speak-out,
while with war-crimes the Russians attack
and the innocent spilled blood to me shouts.

I am slandered by the new regime;
as each other citizen that up-right serve God,
with every evil brooding kind of scheme,
with Lucifer and psychopathic Putin at odd

and if a third world-war comes they will loose,
as the evil barbaric side they did choose.
