Farewell Poem by Luo Zhihai

Farewell

★ Farewell

☆ Lyrics by Li Shutong (1880-1942, China)
☆ Translation by Luo Zhihai (1954-, China)

Outside the pavilion, beside the ancient road
Fragrant grass green connecting with the sky
Fluting sobs and evening breeze blows willows
Mountains outside mountain, setting sun shines
At horizon and world corner
Half familiars are scattered
In joy empty a dipper of full-bodied wine
Else dream is cold tonight

Outside the pavilion, beside the ancient road
Fragrant grass green connecting with the sky
You’ll come back, I ask you what time
When you’ll be coming, not wander
At horizon and world corner
Half familiars are scattered
Life hard to get happily together
There are only more separations
