Father Farmer Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Father Farmer

Father farmer

World's father
Feeder
Of grains
Remains poor

Street beggars
They are not strangers
Yet spend time with no remorse
But never think of suicide of course

The farmers take course to suicide
The government gives subsidy and other incentives for fields
The weather is no one's heaven
So it remains to be seen

You can't give some helping hand
But not all the debts to be written off
When prices are high
They have reason to delight

The government raises support price
But you may surprise
They have no storage facilities
And all the stock finds no utilities

Onion was taken to support price
Now it is likely to be reduced
To count for inconsumable items
Such is planning and concern
