Father's Day Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Father's Day

Rating: 5.0

Happy Father's Day, Daddy,
wherever you are!
I've no idea where that is,
but hope it isn't far!

I've thought of you all day,
but couldn't write to you.
I also had no way to call,
and I've been feeling blue.

Dad, I forgave you years ago
for running out on Mom.
I wish I could have told you so
and still have kept my calm.

I used to hate the thought of you
and how you did reject
us both and run away, but now
I wish we could connect.

I wonder if you have a wife,
perhaps another kid.
I'd welcome brothers, sisters too.
Oh, how I wish you did!

I think you would be proud of me
if you knew what I do.
I do some things most others can't,
and to my friends I'm true.

I hope you can enjoy this day
with steak and caviar,
and think of me, please, wherever
and whoever you are.
