Feathers Poem by Paula Glynn

Feathers

Eyes blink, seeing what angels see,
Mouth moves to speak holy words,
And peace flies her through the sky,
The white light carrying her in its arms,
Feathers from angel wings,
Keeping her soaring through paradise,
And flowers grow, blooming with joy,
The ancient trees remembering what had been,
But she has grown and learnt,
The peace and release of a place,
Not yet imagained, not discovered yet,
Except by her and her love.

She does not desert her people,
No one goes hungry when they feel her energy,
Her holy breath, her holy touch,
And people she does love so much,
Straying feathers falling from her wings,
But she does not fall, she rises above it all,
Through great pain she learnt how to be,
For she has sailed the rocky ride of life,
And pain she no longer has,
Or needs to conceal, her heart pure.

There is no anger or hatred in her soul,
Her touch soothing and calming,
And her beautiful eyes are like no other,
For she needs no lover,
For she is an angel: a saint,
As she sits at God's table,
Drinking the blessed wine,
And having her feet washed my servants,
Happy to serve an enlightened soul,
A soul that has reached across the world.

Keeping the innocent protected in her arms,
Many coming and going through lives,
No day boring or empty,
For this is an angel's paradise,
This is a place the damned find hard to reach,
And feathers leave a legacy of love:
A legacy of the lord above.
