Few Exceptions Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Few Exceptions

No one can change what has passed.
Or believe those left affected,
Should ignore painful events.
Keeping them attached emotionally.

But there will come a time,
When opportunity presents itself...
To say with it meant,

"I am better prepared to listen.
I am better prepared to comprehend.
But you understanding my feelings.
And me to understand yours at that time.
Will still leave us,
Making accusations made.

Whether or not we exchanged apologies.

We all live to have our beliefs changed.
And there are few who live to be exceptions.

Unless...
You perceive me to be the same.
And in need to be taught,
A repeating of an old lesson.
Until the doing has me on my knees,
Pleading for you to allow me...
To pass your test.
With it to forgive,
My taking so long to convince you of it! "

-Okay! Okay, okay I get it.
Now...
What can you do to prove to me,
Your heart is in the right place? -

"How about,
A heart transplant.
Complete with plastic surgery."
