Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest..With Added Dark Verses

Rating: 5.0

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done the rest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum! ...

Sixteen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Of pirate greed and murder I am blessed,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Seventeen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
As I throw one from the ships crow's nest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Eighteen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Another swab gone who I did detest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Nineteen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
My sharp cutlass run through his breast,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Twenty men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
My hidden dagger rids an unwanted guest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Twenty one men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Slitting of throats is what I do best,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Twenty two men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Another gone as I near the end of my quest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Twenty three men on a dead man's chest,
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
The last one slaughtered like all the rest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

The treasure's mine,
All mine to keep.
And of dead shipmates,
I lose no sleep.
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
A very rich captain I've now become!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Robert Louis Stevenson wrote the first stanza/verse and I thought wouldn't be nice if his great poem could be added and embellished with a closure of kind at its end, so I wrote other stanzas/verses.

And dedicated to Captain Cur. A Captain of Destiny!
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Just one pirate on a dead man's chest, Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum! Is it Cur or that devil Cronick? Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum! Loved the poem Shaun, good thing you did not have a hundred man crew or you would still be writing and killing them off. Thanks for the dedication, Captain Cronick, Yo-ho-ho being a pirate is fun!

The treasure's yours Captain Cur! All yours! However, the ghost of Welsh pirate Captain Morgan may have something to say. For is that his cutlass I can hear being sharpened... Thank you Captain Cur for your salty sea-dog comment and safe voyaging to you.
