An up hill battle on my way home
Wrestling the wind holding me back.
It whistles against the city's noise
Wrapping lampposts
preparing to replace the setting sun
.
The Wind Interrupts thoughts on my journey home
I recall a time when it was a breeze on a hot summer's day.
tinged with whisks of your perfumed hair
A better time, another place
.
Have you been touched by this wind today?
Did I just hear it whistle your name?
Did it lift from your hair a strand?
Or is it your thoughts it blows my way?
Did the wind dry a tear as it lifted your smile
and bought it all the way here,
to replace my thoughts, to remind me of you?
.
Are these your whispers that have sailed for miles
or just the hopes and dreams of another fool in the wind?
I pound the pavement with my two companions,
my thoughts and the wind
I button my coat to shield my heart from their cold, biting sting.
