Finest Hour Poem by M.J. Lemon

Finest Hour

Rating: 5.0

Not on the beaches,
but on a bus, I saw him.
He looked like Churchill.
He was clutching legal briefs.
It seemed not his finest hour.

Brings back memories of the last Churchill film. His finest hour was when he was talking to the public on the subway. His not finest hour was when he wasn't reelected. Great reflection on success...and then failure.

Thank you so very, very much, Richard. And as usual, your insights are amazing. That film as well as a few photos of Churchill was exactly what flashed to mind when I saw " Winnie" on that bus.

Thank you so very much, Susan. I wonder if we are now in an age that may demand a Churchill?

There are men who are born for certain times in history. Churchill was desperately needed by Britain and the allies- -his speeches uplifted the spirits of a people and a world being pummeled by Evil. I do not know what je would have done for history in another age or guise but I thank God we never had ro try. Excellent poem - it certainly stirred me! ! !
