He met a sweet gentle maiden
Out where the bluebells grow.
Romantic first love came his way
Where the silent waters flow.
'Twas during the long hot summer
He remembers it O so well!
They both threw caution to the winds
As deeply in love they fell.
They sat on the banks of the river
Wandered through the fields and the glen
Picking wild bluebells and buttercups
Stealing a kiss now and then.
In June, the church bells were ringing
At the Altar, two souls pledged their love
Forever to belong to each other other
High mountains they could rise above..
Love had become a rhapsody...
A beautiful serenade just for two.
And 'First Love' in the long hot summer
Endured a whole lifetime through.
