Florence Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Florence

Florence!

Even with their lives threatened.
By a storm named Florence.
People are more concerned,
About what they possess.
And weapons kept to protect them.
Any storm named Florence.
Whipping up her worse attitude.
Should be a warning for anyone to realize,
A mess she will leave.
Done to do without listening to excuses.
As Florence takes moves,
To teach lessons to more than a few.

She has already begun to spread her winds,
Over several states.
With others close by.
Praying Florence will chill.
And give them a break.
Florence is that kind of storm.
Looking to awaken those faking faith.
She came to warn not to play.
And still folks stubborn stayed in her way.
Most of them determined,
To keep their beliefs.
A storm named Florence,
Will not leave them pained with grief.
And there is nothing that can be said,
To those with thick in cemented brick heads.
