For Her Poem by Herbert Nehrlich

For Her

Rating: 3.0

There was
a time
where laws
of rhyme
did stand
for class
demand
a crass
niveau.

I've felt
the need
to belt
indeed
those rhymes
and post
for dimes
at most
also free verse
and other styles
with care I nurse
that which beguiles.

The down to earth
and lovely bird
must have from birth
each day have heard
the music for
our poetry
forever more
she'll sing for me.

Short and sweet and hard to beat...(Is this a cliche?) Raynette

I love it! I really do think some people just 'hear' rhyme in their heads. I can remember from a very young age 'thinking' things in rhyme whether they were serious or fun things I was dealing with. (Of course, my family thinks I'm very weird and think I should live in a musical! !) Oh how I would love that...I really would. I think the world's just a little bit easier to deal with that way. Great poem Herbert. Sincerely, Mary
