For John (Thanks To Francie Lynch) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

For John (Thanks To Francie Lynch)

Rating: 5.0

I was only ten when he died
The DJ on CHUM was in tears
When I woke up the next morning
And as a ten-year-old brain couldn't
Understand why
I didn't know how to react
A man who wanted peace shot down
Middle-aged rocker who excited a generation
Making a comeback with his Double Fantasy
Only if I knew then what I know now
I light a candle
But I don't think I need to
He is shining like a shooting star
Watching us above
And his voice echoes throughout
The universe pleading to give peace-another try

Wow! This one's even better than Francie's. LeeAnn, you have a very special gift. All of your poems are excellent. Your niche appears to be tribute writing.

Very nice, Leeann. No need to put my name in there. I am unworthy. Thanks again.
