For Love Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

For Love

Rating: 4.5

It all seemed so easy, to give without thought,
the care for our loved ones the way we were taught.
A warm close embrace, a touch of the hand,
no matter the problems we would understand.
Yet sometimes at night when alone and afraid
we wonder if maybe decisions we made
were right or perhaps they weren't always the best,
you suddenly feel a great ache in your chest.
To face things alone, all the joys and the tears,
to keep on just smiling through all of the years,
and just for a while in the silence you cry
and wonder with sadness if you should still try.
Yet just as you think that you face things alone
a gentle voice whispers ‘you're not on your own'
This voice that's so soft and with gentlest of touch
will remind you of why you still care oh so much.
An angel of sorts in its wings you enfold
unloading this cumbersome burden you hold.
Uplifted and lighter in spirit you feel
there now is no problem with which you can't deal.
The help you are given is sent from above,
reminding you that what you do… is for love
