Some say, man's made of dreams born of desires,
Some swear he has a soul of sacrifice.
Cravings that kindle fire create quagmires,
And man ends up paying a heavy price.
He that puts passions on a raging pyre
Knows, a few things (no more)suffice in life,
And more things make life richer nor yet rife;
A flood of craves on fulcrum of raw greed…
I've seen men getting snared in utter strife,
Yet, desire ‘tis that man does duty's deed.

Two modes of living one's life… One is based on self, fuelled by pursuit of passions, satisfying cravings, and desires. Another is an altruistic way of sacrifice for others. One is drawn by the pulls of both. One approach may seem selfish, yet there is no life without some degree of self, versus the (higher)Self or soul.

There is a golden mean between self and altruism! Killing the self is possible only for sages and saints! An ordinary man has to satisfy his self moderately without allowing his greed to take over! A mature view of life is beautifully expressed!
Soul gains light if Lord plays flute wth sweet sensation. I hear Lord's tune in your poem. Hare Krishan, Hare Krishna!
