Forty Quatrains On Battlefield [21- 23] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Forty Quatrains On Battlefield [21- 23]

21.In the battle which the annoyed Chozhan Chenganan fought, the lances hurt the chest of the elephants and caused wounds more and more.
The jaded elephants lost strength as the mahouts weren't on their back
trembled, and thundered the earth with legs to make mounds.

22.Chengatchozhan, who owned the noisy thundering drum and the land
where Kaveri river irrigated, beat the foes in the battle. The swords
borne soldiers cut off the trunks of the elephants. The severed trunks
touched the fallen white kingly umbrellas. It seemed the snake
gobbled up the moon.

23.Chozhan Chenganan with his victorious javelin bearing army
and chariots with fluttering flags slaughtered the foes in the war.
The warriors flung the lances to splitup the foreheads of the tuskers.
The blood spilling from the wounds resembled the darker clouds
in the reddened sky.
