Four Hummingbirds Poem by Michelle Claus

Four Hummingbirds

Rating: 5.0

four hummingbirds alit upon the feeder
four hummingbirds, whose wont is war and greed
they sipped their sugar-water somewhat sweeter
cooperating, sharing – fair, indeed

it seems to me if creatures miniscule
can overcome their wont and get along
then humans – even bigger, even schooled –
can overcome their tendency to wrong

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A quick write this evening (April 8,2015) after having seen four hummingbirds simultaneously sup from the four separate holes in our feeder. I'd never seen that before, as the tiny birds usually bully one another.

A lovely sight, I'm sure. Well adapted to the human condition, Michelle. Thanks for sharing. Peace
