Fragile When Mishandled Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Fragile When Mishandled

Once free and easily accessible.
An honesty.
That has become a rarity to behold.
Too quick today it is to malign.
By those unfamiliar.
Of how to react to it when exposed.

The ones older may be aware of it.
To remember in tales told to the young.
The young disbelieving,
Regard such behavior as just tales to tell.
Myths created by aging psycopaths.
Lieing to embellish a fantasized past.

Honesty today to have.
Is nothing more to many,
Than a relic.
Fossilized.
A primitive artifact claimed found,
By a practicing archaeologist.
Digging around.
To come up with 'something'.
Something to have had existed.
Long before conflicts became a way of life.
Claiming it fragile when handled.
And sensitive to feel.

The young laugh.
The faces of the old are sad.
To know honesty they once knew to expose,
Is rare.
And those who dare to feel it and show.
Are either brave...
Or faking not to know,
How threatening it can be for many...
To be honest 'and' sincere!
