Free Spirit Poem by Anela Mrubata

Free Spirit

Rating: 5.0

I knew i was not free before the time of my birth:
Trapped in a womb in hope of walking this earth.
I kicked and i screamed for my turn in this world.
And now that i'm here, my heart is totally hurt.

I can see the pain and anguish as we roam on these streets
I can see that pain as your heart skips a beat
Let alone, feel the strain we apply on ourselves
Living this lie is like a heaven in hell

Bound by rules and law- yet we allow the deciet
Meaningless freedom is all that i see
So i'll twist and i'll turn, and relive the struggle
Tired of the loud silence, i've had enough of being subtle

Jobs and degrees are all the futile things:
That restrict me from me, and me living my dreams-
Ruling my own life; where I am the King
Praising myself; and that's all that i wish

I sit in the hope of breaking these chains
Freeing myself and running away
But these words that i speak are empty and vague,
When my fantasy place is a lifetime away

My death shall reward me my freedom, the kind that i seek
And release me from exile in my final retreat
And when all is achieved, i'll know that i did it;
I've escaped the lie 'coz I AM A FREE SPIRIT!
