Friendship Day Appeal - Poem by Hasmukh Amathalal

FRIENDSHIP DAYHMAY END
I WILL FIND NO FRIENDS,
IT HAS COME AND GONE
MY APPEAL HAS BEEN UNDONE

COME ANOTHER DAY NEXT YEAR
WHEN WILL I AGAIN SURELY HEAR?
EYES MAY HAVE NO WATER TO TEAR
LIFE IS AT RISK WITH GRAVE FEAR

MEN MIGHT BECOME FRIENDS AND ALLY
WOMEN MAY LOOK AT IT SIMPLE AND SILLY
DEFINITELY IT MAY BE JOKE AND SOME PLOY
INVITING US TO LOOK FOOLAND ENJOY

OH NO, NEITHER IT IS PLOY NOT ANY GAME
COME AND JOIN WITHOUT FURTHER BLAME
ONLY ONCE IN A YEAR THE CHANCE HAS COME
LAUGHT IT OUT AND SMILINGLY WELCOME

KEY WILL BE IN YOUR HAND
WHEN YOU JOIN AND BEFRIEND
I CAN BE PULLED UP FOR SILLY MISTAKE
WHEN YOUR PRIDE AND DIGNITY WILL BE AT STAKE

JOIN FREELY AT EQUALL TERMS
NOW IS YOUR CHANCE AND TURN
WHAT CAN I BE EXPECTED TO RETURN?
IF NO RESPONSE THEN ONLY FINGERS TO BURN

MANY HAVE RAISED EYEBRAWS
THE CONCLUSION IS ALREADY NEAR TO DRAW
THE DAY IS NEARING TO END AND OFFER READY TO EXPIRE
I WISH FRIENDS TO RUSH FOR FRIENDSHIP DAY TO ADMIRE
