Frightening, Horrifying, Scary Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Frightening, Horrifying, Scary

Truth...
To once have been evaded.
Avoided.
And capable to chase away,
By those with influence and money.
To have had...
But today,
That even dust is collected...
To cherish and hide to keep,
Anywhere for those wealthy and elite...
Can believe is kept in a safe place.
Is frightening.
Horrifying and scary,
For the ones forced to abandon their homes.
Live on the streets with little to eat.
Listening to speeches heard to hear,
By those once wealthy and elite...
Being paid to preach,
About how difficult it has been for them...
Living homeless, hungry and ignored.
To now discover...
Humiliation, embarrassment and the cost of it,
That takes away one's dignity.

And...
This done to do,
While filming documentaries...
From homeless shelters.
Promoting recently published books.
Given to those homeless as photo-ops.
Who smile as their books are autographed!

"Oh...
You people have no idea,
The torment and anguish...
People like us have to endure,
When absolutely everything.
EVERYTHING is gone.
It is frightening.
Horrifying and scary! "
