From The Gloom

In the early morning sunshine
I watch the steam rise off
damp wooden fences.
An indicator of an approaching lovely day


After months of winter's gloom
the sun rose to greet us
bringing forth warmth to the air
and rising faces from the gloom,


Our hope now it will
last longer than one day
chasing away the gloom
from everyone's life,
