From The Moon Above (On The 50th Anniversary Of The Moon Landing) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

From The Moon Above (On The 50th Anniversary Of The Moon Landing)

Rating: 4.9

Are you lonely up there?
Or are you satisfy that you are living
From the hate, bigotry, and pollution
Of the Human race?
Yeah! It looks quaint from there
With the blue waters and white clouds,
The land so green and brown
That you forgot about the horrors of the past
And when you stepped on the surface
And left footsteps permanently there
Did you think yr flag would be a symbol of peace?
No, I didn't think so
Everyone killing each other here
For a senseless cause
Are you crying?
Because we broke the unity
By hiring a rich Archie Bunker
Another Nixon
To lead the nation
For the next fifty years
Stop and think!
What life would it be like living
In peace from the moon above?
- Just Imagine!

We have to fix the problems on Earth first before we pollute and wreck other moons or planets. Though, there are a few people I'd send up in space, our stupid political leaders and those that have created our present climate catastrophe, somewhere inhospitable like Venus.

We can stand on the moon, but planting our feet firmly and securely on earth does seem to be a challenge. A very thought- provoking verse, LeeAnn.

50 years ago the human race achieved a milestone, by stepping on another celestial satellite, but at the time there was war, prejudice, genocide, violations of human rights, and today its the same thing. A wonderful critique LeeAnn, looking from the vantage point of the moon to see how life is on earth. Your right it would be nice to live on the moon, away from a world of cruel cartoons.
