Gail's Song Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Gail's Song

Rating: 4.0

Listen to my song Lord
Please listen to my heartfelt plea
Like a caged bird
I long to be free

Listen to my song Lord
I'm drowning in the sea
Please throw a lifeline
addressed only to me

Listen to my song Lord
Each and every day
From the lowest valleys
To mountains high, so far away

Listen to my song Lord
Your praises I sing
Lord, King of Kings
Have mercy on me

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
4: 15am 20 June 2017. Monticello, Minnesota. First day of summer. Staying with my sister Cindy. Our sister Gail has written more than 42 songs. This is part of one, it is not titled or complete. I told her it is enough for a poem.

So, as I understand it, this was not written by you, but by your sister, Gail. Is that correct? Whichever, it is very well done. Works well both as a poem and a song.

I wish I could write songs like that.

I would like to hear Gail's song set to music. It appeals to me very much as a hymn as much as a poem too.
