Gambling Poem by Akhtar Jawad

Gambling

Rating: 5.0

In a bar having no walls, no doors, no windows
sitting on a chair and resting my head on the table,
between my elbows,
thinking how helpless I am, how much feeble!
In my pocket there has remained the last coin,
not sufficient enough to purchase more wine.
Thinking I should now get up and go out
but how to go out?
As long as I can see it's a bar,
that has no beginning and no end.
What's the time?
I looked for a wall clock.
What a fool I am!
When there is no wall how can there be a wall clock?
An announcement!
"The casino is now open."
I got up and put my single remaining coin at the stake.
The slot started rotating.
And then it stopped.
Unbelievable,
I won a life!
I find myself in a bar having walls,
with doors and windows.
my pocket was full of notes,
millions, billions or trillions,
I don't know.
Through the windows I saw beautiful face of a woman.
I rushed to the windows,
much of the currency notesslipped from my pocket,
I dam care.
I can now purchase the oldest wine bottles,
I ignore,
I want a woman,
she is beautiful and sexy
costlier than the currency notes I nowhave,
delicious, full of life,a bottle filled with love,
more alcoholic than the oldest wines!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Wining in gambling brought us on the earth, losing in a gambling will send us back to a place we call it skies, may be a distant planet in a too large solar system and we might be facing a mighty alien.

Aloha and Cheers Akntar... Well Mate... the poet's notes are a bit more revealing of your intentions... Life is indeed a gamble... To Covid or not to Covid... Whatever! And is not the concept of " God" , " Alien" to most of the human species? 'Mighty' and most likely so... or do you believe this is not the case? IAM going to seer your post for a bit... and fly the results... All of the best from this life, to you, and all of our relations... Michaelw1two
