Ruthlessness and hatred has paved its way
once again in another country on another day;
how could humanity be so callous
how could men kill men and feel so glorious?
has life no value, has no heart no mercy?
when in that daylight children will wake up
and see those skies so full of smoke and dust
what will their mothers tell them?
what will they think when they see the same skies
in the nights so full of travelling light balls?
will their age know they are rocket shells
which keep sparking and shining in darkness
like fireworks but those are shells
that kill their dads, their mums
and their brothers, their sisters
and destroy their homes of love and care
where they have lived over their growing years
with loving old grandparents and relatives
and with neighbors and friends so supportive
yet no one cares now as war has its own maxim
and momentum of violence and destruction;
where will people thus run to hide
and save themselves if war will ignite fires
that will engulf their localities and buildings?
Have mercy on each other as time reflects back
those injuries, those wounds, those deaths
and those mothers who weep as they see sons die;
and while no peace is visible in the periphery,
voices keep shrieking with fear as rockets fall
killing some, injuring many that as it happens
eyes keep accumulating tears of pain and fears;
and in that hope of brotherhood no one knows
that it is war that separates the bond of unity
between those who choose to fight
and those who choose to retaliate,
leaving those who believe in God to pray
for intercession and peace to return and prevail;
so let the war stop and give respite to humanity
so that every one has the chance to breathe
with respect for humanity and each other's survival.
