Getting Outside Of Themselves Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Getting Outside Of Themselves

I did not drive a Mercedes.
In fact I had a bus pass.
So naturally anything I had to offer...
They believed should be quickly trashed.
I would laugh inside.
Knowing I would soon see them...
Sitting on the sidewalks with tears they cried.
And I tried to tell them to become conscious of events.
To exercise their rights to enjoy their lives.
By getting outside of themselves...
To be with Mother Nature!
Well...
They did get outside with Mother Nature.
But I doubt if Mother Nature expected them to cry tears...
When 'she' does the best she can to deliver Sun,
To all who understand where their blessings come from!
And what God gives...
Is much more than things to worship.
Much more than reminiscing treasures taken,
For lack of payments made!
And embarrassments witnessed diminishing pretentions.
