Give Justice To Yourself Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Give Justice To Yourself

You must have gone thro' many miles of life and love,
You must have gone thro' many books and friends,
you must have gone thro' many adversities and enemies,
you must have gone thro' many experiences beautiful and worst
but if you have not gone on that journey of personal vendetta,
then, you have not traveled the roads of justice
like a human being
if you have not walked the aisles of vengeance even once
you must have never understood of battles and victories
you must have never known what is history and wars
you must have never understood what is prudence and dignity,
you must have never understood how to value your own
self-integrity,
you must have mis-appropriated your memory of self-defence
if, in the pursuit of survival, you did not look into the mirror
of challenges
you must have never known the cause and remedy for your despair
you must have never looked beyond the curtain
of self-introspection;
so, ask yourself how and why you have allowed
others to harm you,
return back that injury to them by written words,
by speech, by verbal penalties
make them feel the pain just as much as they deserve
for torturing you,
tell them how they have erred in making you suffer;
and while on earth, face to face settle the scores with them;
and forgive yourself as you rebuke them, rectify them
tell them, at birth God had instilled no pains in you,
as you live you will bear no agony they impose
tell them they have no right to wreck your health and peace,
move every pawn and rook to make them understand their guilt;
and that what is not avengeable, leave it to God Almighty
for jury and justice.
