Giving Thanks On Turkey Day Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Giving Thanks On Turkey Day

Preparing for a turkey feast that gives thanks
Getting the fixings for supplementary dishes that delight
Everybody prefers something different along side
I'm thinking about the tasty favorites that everyone likes

Bread cubes for stuffing are lightly toasted to perfection
Now what to add…celery, onion, nuts, apple, or raisins
Add pinches and dashes of sage, rosemary, and thyme
Lovely herbs that enhance with savory scents from within

Let's see, sweet potatoes or yams…baked or from a can
Smooth mashed potatoes; boiled from the start or instant
Rice gently browned and seasoned or fluffy grains of white
Remember the gravy, be sure that lumps aren't dominant

Green bean casserole is always unanimously approved
Along with tasty fresh baked rolls and flaky croissants
Add a tray with relishes, pickles, and pitted olives of black
This meal will satisfy the most finicky of uncles and aunts

As if this wasn't enough…pies of two kinds are baked
Pumpkin and the other of pecan…add heaps of cream whip
A fresh pot of coffee is perking with an aroma of roasted beans
Loosen your belt …this is a dessert you won't want to skip

The occasion brought family together from expanding distances
It is a day to reflect and to tell new stories that bring laughter
All the fussing and worried concerns are finally put to rest
Praises to the chef… thank goodness there were no disasters

Very nicely done. That is certainly very satisfying - something for everyone.
