God Came Himself Poem by Gary James Smith

God Came Himself

God Came Himself

God came Himself as Jesus Christ
Hallelujah for the Cross
The Creator humbled Himself as man
And endured such significant loss
To be spit upon and crowned with thorns
And beaten like none other before
Man of sorrows and aquainted with grief
Yet became our blest sin-bearer

The most Holy of holies God the Son
Who without one sin upon Him
Took our place as our blessed Redeemer
To offer us a clean slate..."Forgiven! "
Now redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
Irreversible our so great Salvation
And born again by the Spirit of God
Upon repentance we've become a new creation

Hallelujah for that Cross of Christ
The world's utmost Purifier
Who can take the lowest of sinful man
And give that heart a new desire
To seek to do the will of God
From a heart that's been totally changed
Come now you who are longing to be blessed
There's a meeting place God can arrange!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
