God Of All These Paths Outworn

God of all these paths outworn

keep us all from unknown harm

hold us in your eyes today

we are children in the way

of each least thing that mows us down

and every cruel or unwitting frown

and though we long to be with You

we know that we have much to do

much to mend and much to salve

of all the wounds on earth that crowd

the living air with such distress

oh God be ever present Rest.

that we may find by close of day

we helped the grieving on their way

and found our home in You.
