GOOD FRIDAY
translation from Dutch by Sylvia Frances Chan

we are saved
not what we have done
but what Jesus Christ has done

He has no sin
imagine how cruel this is!
He is crucified
on Calvary,
in the afternoon,
the sun is no more
at the moment he dies,
the earth becomes darkest,
the curtains in the temple
are torn

His mother Mary is close to Him
she is crying
Her only son dies
know that right now a son dies before his mother
the deepest sorrow for Mary,
since she is the only one
who knows this deepest sadness

he has suffered
the deepest pain

He is crucified
and dies on the cross,
on Calvary
He has no sin,
He is buried,
and on the third day, he is arisen,

think how great is his love for us,
humanity with sin,
He has conquered death,
know, how the greatest power
Jesus has
He is born like a human baby
born of the virgin Mary,
especially for our sins

we are in the holy week before Easter,
and never forget:
He has risen!
