Good Paper's Dilemma Poem by Shaun Cronick

Good Paper's Dilemma

Rating: 5.0

I sit here in my comfy chair,
So dog tired beyond belief.
Today has been a long one,
I yearn for welcome relief.

I need to write a poem,
For there wasn't time today.
Something light and bubbly,
And not one drab and gray.

In front of me some paper,
Blank with nothing to show.
A mirror image of my mind,
My imagination is riding low.

And then the eureka moment,
As an idea comes to me.
Staring me in the face,
For the paper is the key...

It's a worry for quality paper,
What will be inscribed on it.
A shopping list even a doodle,
Or something crassly counterfeit.

Good paper and fine parchment,
Wish to be a wedding invitation.
Or celebrating a child's christening,
Maybe a thank you for a donation.

And good paper's proudest moment,
Is written on by a regal hand.
Fine calligraphy on fine parchment,
Requesting more by Royal Command.

Thanks Dominic for your comment and for the musical heads up too. And I know of the genius of Brian Eno, a brilliant producer. Thanks again and take care.

Highly original poem Shaun...I must admit I have never thought about writing one about paper. The only song I know about paper...indeed it's entitled Paper is by the quirky, experimental band Talking Heads from Fear Of Music (1979) produced by the brilliant Brian Eno (who has also worked with Bowie, U2 and was an ex member of Roxy Music) So you are in good company! Anyway, I digress, It's a great tribute to paper inspired ten from me!
