Grandchildren Swim After Raining Days Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

It has been raining for the whole week
The rain stopped, the sun shines this Thursday afternoon.
The air temperature is now 75 Fahrenheit
My grandchildren are waiting for me to swim together.
After I have completed the pool preparation
My grandchildren jump in as clear water is so inviting.
I came home from a dental office after a tooth extraction
So, I can't swim and play with them in water.
I walk around the pool as my grandchildren swim
To join the fun, our cats rest with their stretched legs.
Under golden sunshine and some hanging white clouds
Our cats bathe in the sun waiting for the day to end.
Evan now can swim without a floating vest
But I want him to swim only across the shallow end.
He swims with his three older sisters
They swim with their faces down or that they can see the sky.
He just graduated from private swimming lessons
However, as being 5½ year old, he needs someone to swim along.
Grandmother finished her dinner preparation.
Grandparents and grandchildren enjoy their meal together.

CHÁU BƠI SAU NHỮNG NGÀY MƯA

Cả tuần mưa xuống thật nhiều
Hôm nay mưa tạnh, nắng chiều thứ Năm.
Trời chiều, nắng ấm bảy lăm
Cháu tôi đang đợi cùng nhau bơi hồ.
Hồ bơi tôi sửa soạn xong
Nước trong mời gọi, cháu tôi nhảy vào.
Răng tôi mới nhổ hôm nay
Thành ra không thể cùnh nhau bơi đùa.
Cháu bơi, tôi bước vòng quanh
Thấy vui mèo cũng xoải chân nằm chờ.
Nắng vàng, mây trắng lửng lơ
Mèo nằm hong nắng chờ ngày đi qua.
Evan bơi chẳng cần phao
Nhưng tôi muốn cháu bơi ngang mặt hồ.
Cùng nhau bốn chị em bơi
Khi thì lặn nước, khi bơi nhìn trời.
Gần đây cháu mới học bơi
Cháu năm tuổi rưỡi, cần người kèm bơi.
Bữa ăn bà nấu xong rồi
Ông bà, các cháu cùng ngồi ăn chung.
